Houston ISD Family Back to School Bash
Ready, Set, School! is a districtwide back to school event designed to help families prepare for a successful first day of school. The event serves as a one stop resource where families can access essential services, receive information, and resolve needs before the start of the school year.
Our goal is simple: remove barriers before the first day so students arrive ready to learn.

What Families Can Expect
Families attending Ready, Set, School! will have the opportunity to:
- Receive backpacks and school supplies (while supplies last)
- Access free haircuts
- Connect with district departments and community partners
- Obtain information about district programs and services
- Receive assistance completing important back to school tasks
Family Support Help Desks
To ensure families are prepared for the first day of school, support stations will be available on the second floor of the event to assist with:
- Student enrollment and annual student update completion
- School Choice, school transfers, PreK Enrollment
- Transportation information and bus routes
- ParentSquare access and account support
- Special Education services and resources-TBD
- Nutrition Services/ free and reduced applications
Each family will receive a Back to School Checklist and passport upon entry. The checklist is to help families identify any outstanding items that may impact their readiness for the first day of school.
