The Houston Promise

When HISD students succeed, Houston succeeds.

In 2023, only 17% of HISD graduates were earning a living wage six years after graduation. That is unacceptable.

Two years later, for the record, outcomes and opportunities for Houston students look much different. In HISD, zip code no longer dictates destiny. for the first time in memory, there are no F-rated schools in the district. and we have more than doubled the number of A- and B-rated schools.

Our students and teachers have made history, and we’re just getting started. The goal we’ve set is ambitious, but clear: to have every child in a high-quality school. All means all and by august 2027, every HISD campus will be an A or B.

That is the Houston promise. Because when HISD wins, Houston wins.
