HISD Starts School Year with Just 2 Teacher Vacancies

As other large urban districts continue to deal with the national teacher shortage, HISD has started the last three school years now with zero or close to zero vacancies.

Why does this matter? Because nothing is more important to a child’s learning than having an effective teacher in front of them every single day. When a classroom starts the year without a teacher, students lose critical learning time.
